Chrisette Michele Payne was born in Central Islip, New York last December 8, 1982. She grew up in Patchogue. Her parents worked as deacons to their church. Chrisette Michele sings jazz style such as Sarah Vaughn, Jill Scott, Macy Gray, Esther Phillips, Erykah Badu, and Ella Fitzgerald.

Chrisette Michele Payne is known as Chrisette Michele is an American R&B and soul singer–songwriter who belongs on the Island Def Jam Music Group. In 2009, for Best Urban/Alternative Performance, Chrisette won a Grammy Award from her song entitled "Be OK".

I Am was Chrisette debut album in June 18, 2007. on iTunes, the song entitled "Your Joy" was released as a free single of the week. The album produced four singles which were "If I Have My Way", "Best of Me", "Be OK", and "Love Is You".
Epiphany was Chrisette second album which she began recording in the mid-2008.  in its opening week, her album debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 selling 83,000 copies.

Chrisette is recently being teamed up with rapper Wale which brings perfect mix of street and soul to the audio table.
